We all knew what was coming when Dad gathered us around to name the valley. He expounded how Lemuel, like the valley, should be solid and steady in keeping the commandments. Few of us were listening, least of all Lemuel. But that’s how we ended up living in the Valley of Lemuel next to the River Laman. Kind of makes me sick to my stomach. But gotta give Dad points for trying. If they were my kids I would’ve sold them as slaves by this point.
